On the 7km beat of river Åelva you will find some of the best spots in the entire river. These pools and rapids hold a dense population of salmon. Åelva is the best salmon river in the area. It also has a good stock of big sea trout. In the river Terråkelva, the salmon and sea trout are plentiful. The river is perfect for light tackle. Price includes 4 rods for 7 days in both river Åelva and Terråkelva.
Trout and char fishing
Mountain- and trolling or boat fishing in Lake Åbjørvatn. You have access to a wide variety of mountain lakes, forest lakes, and small streams and rivers to fish. This package is excellent if you would like to do a bit of hiking, fishing, and adventure. Large areas with little-to-no people and lots of opportunities. You have lakes and small ponds that are easily accessed from the cabin, where you also have mountain lakes that takes a while to walk to. Remember, for the first half of summer, there is complete daylight all night – so you can take long hikes without losing light.
Family package
This is available for those who are not interested in either mountain fishing, lake fishing, or salmon fishing. The cabin has 10 beds and is equipped for a pleasant stay with the family. You will still have the possibility to fish in the local ponds, lakes and mountain range, without having to rent the boat rental in Lake Åbjørvatn. This package is more suited if you plan to be a larger group than 6 people.
Prices are found further down on the page.
Comfortable cabin with 10. beds
Bruksbo is a pleasant cabin of a good standard, approx. 110 m2. The cabin is situated on its own, and the outside area extends down to the water’s edge.
The cabin has a kitchen with a propane stove and a propane fridge. The cabin is fitted with a solar panel with 230 V converter and USB charger. A view of the water can be seen from the large living room, which has a wood-burning stove and a sofa suite. Outside there is a terrace with a gas grill and there is also an area where you can relax next to an outside fireplace. 5 bedrooms with a total of 10 beds.
The perfect combination of easy access and magnificent scenery
Bruksbo is situated at the outlet of Åbjørvatn in the Åbjøra watercourse. Fishing for brown trout and arctic char is available at your doorsteps.
A forest road takes you to the cabin. A few cabins belonging to the local population lie in the area, but they cannot be seen or heard from your cabin (it is about 700 m walking distance to the nearest neighbour). The location is suitable for 4–10 persons.
Fishing
Sea trout and salmon
Fishing licence for approximately 7 kilometres of the Åelva river is included in the price. The salmon and sea trout populations of the Åelva river is one of the best in the region, and this 7km beat holds some of the best fishing spots in the river. The river is ideal for single hand fly fishing and light spin fishing. Some anglers prefer a two-hand fly rod on higher water levels. The fish ladder built in Åelva river in 2000 makes both lake Åbjørvatn and river Åbjøra available to salmon/sea trout, although all salmon/sea trout caught in the lake or Åbjøra river should be released.
River Åelva is a large-bodied river that has relatively large water level variations during the season. The middle water level is recommended to be optimal for salmon fishing. The early season and the late season usually has relatively high water levels, whereas the middle part of the season differs a lot more from year to year. However, in normal conditions, the middle part of the season is usually some of the best fishing in the upper river beat, especially for salmon. For sea trout, usually, August is recommended, whilst the early season has some high-quality salmon- and sea-run char fishing in the lower beat of the river.
Fishing season River Åelva: 01.06 – 31. august. Salmon Lower River: 01.06 – 30.06. Salmon Upper River: 15.06 – 15.07.
Sea trout and sea-run char: 01.06 – 31.08 The whole river
Fishing regulations and rules: See Fishing rules for the Plahte Estate
A stay at Bruksbo also includes fishing license in the Terråk river which lies a 40min drive from the cabin. The Terråk river runs right through the town of Terråk and is easily accessed from the road or trail. The river holds both large salmon and sea trout. We recommend trying the Terråk river in combination with a trip to the local grocery market.
Trout and arctic char
Lake Åbjørvatn is easily accessed from the cabin. The lake has large shallow areas on its west side and gets deeper towards the east side. On the far side of the lake, by the inlet of the river Åbjøra, there’s a shallow area well suited for fishing from the boat. Traditionally both spin fishing and fly fishing fish well in the lake. If you want to go for the really big fish, try trolling with large lures such as Rapala and Tomic. Fish up to 1.5kg is not unusual and there’s been caught trout over 4kgs in the lake. The average weight is however about 250g and the fish is of good quality. It’s a dense population of arctic char in Åbjørvatn. Although larger specimens do exist the char is usually of a small size.
The fishing right is also valid for several forest and mountain lakes. Some of which are easily accessed and others require some serious hiking. For the experienced hikers, we recommend Nillsfinntjørnin, Kjerringdalstjørna, Flåtjøra, and Skarstadfuglvatnet. Those who just want to catch fish in a lake without hiking for several hours should try Glømmvatna, Hemmingslitjønna, lomlitjønna, austerengtjønna, or Sandsskartjørna. It’s also possible to go fishing in the Terråk area which holds several good lakes ideal for both family fishing or dedicated fly fishermen.

Hiking and other activities
The area around the cabin is well suited for mountain top hiking, with several spectacular hikes just outside the doorway. Hikes to such as Granbostad mountain, Nova mountain, Glømtind, Nonselv mountain, and Fuglstad mountain are popular choices. In the Bindal area, there are several short and long hikes that we recommend. For nice weather, we recommend Mulingen and Heilhornet, a 30 minute and 45-minute drive from the cabin.
For those who want to spend more time in the area around the cabin, there are lots of small forest lakes and ponds that are well suited for fishing with the kids. Also, the area holds a lot of Bilberry (blueberry) and Cloudberry that you are welcome to harvest as much as you want. Additionally, there are several good spots for chantarelle in the area around the cabin that is well worth a visit if you stay at the cabin in the late summer.

More info about the area
Bruksbo
Bruksbo lies next to the Åbjøra lake, beautifully overlooking the water and its surrounding mountains. Just outside the cabin door, you can find blueberries and the closest fishing spot is only 20 meters away. There are a few cabins in the area belonging to local people, but none so close that they can be seen or heard from the cabin.
Bruksbo is a traditional Norwegian cabin that has been modernized with a propane kitchen with fridge/freezer, a propane heated water system and solar panel.
Abjora watercourse
The 15 km. long river Åelva runs from the lake to the fjord. This is one of the best salmon rivers in the northern part of Norway. Fishing is not included, but can be bought at a resonable price.
