Fjord fishing, salmon fishing and fresh water fishing right next to the house
Staying at Sveitserhuset you got a lot of options. You can go fishing in the fjord, in two salmon/sea trout rivers with a combined beat of more than 10km, in mountain lakes or fish from boats on bigger lakes.

You can reach the Terråk river by foot in just 3-4 minutes, and the Åelva river can be reached by a 15 minute drive. In the area around Terråk there are plenty of good lakes, both in the forest and up in the mountains.

The house is mainly authentic old style, but the kitchen and bathroom are modern. The house has two main twin bedrooms, one single bedroom and one bedroom with four beds. Normal electricity, running water, WC etc. TV, dish washer, and washing machine for clothes. The extra cabin in the mountain is very rough and basic, but gives shelter and is nicly situated for mountain trout fishing.

Sea trout and salmon

Sea trout and salmon migrates 3.6km up the Terråk river, which is situated a 3min walk from the house. The average weight of the salmon is 2-3kg and sea trout 1kg. There’s however a fair chance to catch fish far larger than the average weight (se foto album). The fishing is best on higher water levels.

The Åelva river the best salmon river in the area. Our fishing rights covers both sides of the lower 2 km of the river. Åelva has the most dense salmon stock in the region and also a large stock of good sized sea trout. There is also caught a few sea run arctic chars in the lower parts each year. Fishing licence further up the river can be arranged.

For those who enjoy fly fishing in salt water the area around Terråk is perfect for sea trout fishing. The season starts in March and last until the fish starts migrating up the rivers.

Fjordfishing

In the Tosenfjord you can fish for cod, coalfish, pollock, halibut, mackerel and a variety of salt water species. Trolling for salmo and sea trout is also popular.

Fresh water fishing

In the area around Terråk you will find several good lakes. If you’re primarily interested in catching fish, and cook it, you can visit almost any given lake. Some lakes however have less fish, but of a better size and condition. Lake Nervatnet, Mellavatn and Sørvatnet are relatively easy to access and holds lots of fish.

The more dedicated anglers we recommend visiting lake Svartvatnet, Tverråspøylan and Svartåstjørna. We have some additional tips for those who ask very kindly upon arrival.

A 200 m2 “swiss style” house from 1875 that has been renovated to its original state with antique furniture, library, carambole room (kind of billiards), authentic colours and wall papers etc. Hall, library, activity room with carambola and a piano, 2 bathrooms with WC, modern kitchen, dining room, living room, four bedrooms with a total of 9 beds and a balcony.

Facilities:

Good standard. Dining room for 8 persons, living room with large television, kitchen with all utensils needed, two bathrooms with shower and WC, two twin bedrooms, one single room and a bedroom with 4 beds.

Kitchen utensils:

Plenty of cutlery, plates, pots and pans for 9 persons. Coffee maker.

Technical equipment:

Electricity, cold/hot water, 2 showers, 2 WC, refridgerator with a small freezer, stove with oven, dish washer, washing machine and tumble dryer.

Boats etc.

Boats:

In the fjord and lake Nervatn. Boats in different lakes can be arranged for an extra cost.

Floating equipment:

Life jackets for 70-90 kg are available. Other sizes on request.

Plahtes Eiendommer

The Plahte Estate (Plahtes Eiendommer) is one of the largest privately owned land areas in Norway. Varied and vast areas of breathtaking beauty with healthy populations of game and fish, clean water and fresh air.

Basic, but comfortable cabins. Some of them very remote, others more easily accessible. Enjoy life in pristine surroundings, be it for fishing, hunting or gathering berries, mushrooms or mussels, or be it just to recharge your batteries doing nothing at all but enjoy the scenery and peace.
